About Grace
Born in Jiamusi in 1983 and raised in Harbin, Grace and her family have been living in Shanghai for many years. She graduated from the Luxun Academy of Fine Arts. In 2008, her oil painting "Trilogy" was selected for the exhibition “Good-bye My Love! – The 13th Anniversary of Miss Lijun Deng’s Death,” sponsored by UBS China, where she was honored with the title of "Contemporary Artist." Grace is a member of the China Women's Painting Association and the Shanghai Huangpu Art Association. Her works explore themes of life, living, and the ecosystem, developed through a series of creations centered on “light” and “love” - with light symbolizing life, and love representing its essence. Her pieces are held in both domestic and international institutional and private collections.
An artist, a loyal friend and loving mother, Grace paints life with brushes. Her artwork covers a wide spectrum of subjects in life just as she said, “Life is so beautiful and I paint all that I love.”
Portraits, plants, constructions, rivers, seas and mountains are in her paintings with oil, ink, and other mediums. She paints expressionistic and abstract artwork in an approach of following the law of nature, fusing reality with her own perceptions of the nature and daily life. Grace adeptly applies visual-spatial language through design, light and color in her oil paintings, which distinguishes themselves with simplicity and an element of Chinese traditional freehand ink painting. Bright colors combined with a structure of Chinese modern and contemporary ink painting, Grace's paintings present themselves in an impressionistic way that flows a spirit of life.
Grace said, “Painting gave me life a second time. Every time I paint, my life continues.” Her artwork is like a stream of living water that quenches thirst of a dry soul and restores hope to life.
